| Prescription Lenses and Frames
Polycarbonate lenses are thinner and lighter than glass and plastic. They have a built in UV and scratch protection. Polycarbonate lenses are shatter resistant and have a higher tolerance against chipping or cracking when compared to glass or plastic.
Transitions lenses are made to quickly adjust and adapt in changing light to help protect from the sunís harmful UV rays. These lenses are fully UV protected, but are not a replacement for sunglasses. Transitions lenses are known for changing to sunglasses when outdoors and clear indoors, however, a pair of prescription sunglasses should be available while driving.
Transitions XTRActive lenses work very similar to standard Transitions lenses. The main difference is the ability to darken behind the windshield of a vehicle. These lenses work from both UV rays and visible violet rays. Because of the increased amount of rays that darken the lenses, these Transitions lenses will get darker outside, will have a moderate tint in the vehicle, and will always have a subtle grey tint on them indoors to help fight glare from various artificial lighting.
The newest of the Transitions family of brands - this lens incorporates the Transitions technology along with the benefit of a polarized sun-glass. These lenses have a very subtle grey tint to them when worn indoors and will polarize as the lens darkens. Polarized lenses are fully UVA, UVB, and UVC protected. UVC light is also known as "blue light" or HEV light. These are the most harmful UV rays, however, polarized lenses can block up to 97% of UVC light. By filtering all of the horizontal light, polarized lenses help to eliminate sun reflection. Many people prefer polarized lenses for fishing, skiing, tennis, and many other outdoor activities.
Anti-Reflective / Glare Free Lenses
Having a glare-free lens will help to eliminate artificial reflection, making your lenses appear as if they are not there. This coating is perfect for night time driving, computer usage, and working under fluorescent lights. Bifocal lenses allow you to be able to see at a distance and read with one pair of glasses. These lenses typically have a half moon shaped reading area at the bottom of the lens. These lenses are perfect for someone who needs distance correction and also has trouble reading. This is also a great alternative to reading glasses. Bifocal lenses can be worn all day and avoids having to wear two pairs of glasses.
Trifocals allow you to see at a distance, at a computer distance and at a reading distance with one pair of glasses. These lenses are very similar to bifocal lenses with the exception to having a computer distance above your reading area.
Progressive lenses are known as a no-line bifocal or trifocals. These lenses help avoid the discontinuities (image-jumps) in the glasses created by lined bifocal and trifocal lenses. These lenses tend to be more cosmetically attractive since they resemble the look of a pair of single vision glasses. There is usually an adjustment period to get used to the lens design, but once familiarized, progressive lenses are the closest relation to natural eyesight.
BDP Advanced Progressive
This progressive has a custom progressive design. Standard progressive lenses are all the same with the exception of the prescription. For example, if you and your spouse both wear progressives, you will both essentially have the same progressive design, the only difference will be the prescription. The BDP Advanced progressive is a digital custom progressive design and is not created until the lab receives the frame shape, size and measurements, along with your prescription and prescription measurements. This helps to ensure the best progressive fit for you and your prescription with that specific frame.
